What does it mean to focus on the basics?
What does it mean to focus on the basics, to give residents the city services they deserve? Just this morning in the Ward here's three examples of small, solvable problems that we could fix.
At Dort Park, which was beautifully restored a decade ago, the main park sign was hit and has sat damaged and bent for a year and a half. In Downtown, after Saginaw Street was redone nearly all of the new street trees died and many blocks now completely lack trees. Up the block, many of our trash cans are nearly entirely rusted out, with trash blowing out from their base.
When we focus on the basics - clean streets, quality parks, safe neighborhoods, and fighting blight - and not fighting with each other, we can solve these issues. If you elect me, I promise to work with the Administration, our DDA, our park adopters, and our neighbors to make sure that we're focusing on fixing the basics that Flint residents deserve.
